Plates and Portraits - Urban Eats

Hello everyone! Welcome to the first blog post of Plates and Portraits! Jocelyn and I are glad to bring you all our new blog revolving around food and photography (If you couldn't tell by the title). We will be posting the last Friday of every month and sometimes a couple bonus posts if we find a really cool restaurant. Today we will be talking about Urban Eats located on Washington Ave.

It is a very nice location and the atmosphere is very nice. The first floor is a type of market where you can buy different food items such as meats, cheeses and sweets. We didn't get anything from there but the staff seamed to be very helpful as they came right up to us as we walked in. The second floor is the dine-in restaurant with a totally different environment then downstairs. They have a outside patio but since it was cold we chose to sit inside. If you go when the weather is nice, I recommend you sit outside because the view is amazing. Once you get to the top you can seat yourself if there is space and a waiter will be with you right away. They bring you a glass of water at first then you can order a drink; Jocelyn just stuck with the water and I got a lemonade. Jocelyn got "The Picnic" which was smoky bbq pulled brisket on a toasted ciabatta roll with aged white cheddar, red cabbage slaw and dill pickles. I got the "Southern Chicks" which was chicken fried chicken on Texas toast with butter lettuce, ripe tomato, bread and butter pickles and lime garlic mayo. The Picnic is on the left and the Southern Chicks is on the right.

Both our orders came with fries and a small salad. We had the option to upgrade our fries but we stuck to the original. Over all it is was very delicious and the fries were amazing. Next time I go I plan to try the other types of fries as well as get desert as we chose not to this time. Down below are some of the images from the location and I now hand it of to Jocelyn.

Hello I'm Jocelyn and I live to eat and explore. I've always wanted to try Urban Eats and yesterday I had the pleasure to. First of all the things on the menu were foreign to me. Then I saw "sliders" and I was like okay perfect; little mini burgers. My plate of choice was "The Picnic" served with salad and fries and let me just say every single bite delicious and savory. All the flavors combined were perfect and complimented each other. Definitely suggest this place for the "lets try something new" individuals. You wont regret it.

I would describe my style as simplistic and minimal with a touch of edginess. When picking out my outfits I always think less is more. I wore and all black outfit and a black and white jacket paired with dark green lace up booties. Top, pants and shoes are Forever 21 | Jacket is from Armani Exchange.

Thank you for viewing the blog and we hope that you liked it! If you go please tag us and or use the hash-tag #platesandportraits. We hope that you had a great February and we wish you the best in March. Thanks for reading everyone!
